Siglap Park Connector

i love the fact that i can ride to anywhere and everywhere, whenever i wanted to. i love the ECPCN. really. i truly do. most of my friends live in the east and hence, most of our daily haunts are right here and with the ECPCN, it made it that much easier for me to get to these places.

so on a fine Thursday afternoon, the four of us decided to try out our new bikes and explore a part of the ECPCN, the Siglap Park Connector with one goal in mind.. homeade ICE CREAM at the fabulously fantabulous Ice Cream Chefs. so at 6 pm, i set off from my house at Tampines. burning calories before indulging… now that’s a workout plan i can live with.

The above was written by a true blue calorie-counting fanatic.

Since the day I took my first steps, I’ve been accident prone. Bruises, cuts, sprains. You name it, I’ve got it. Yet, I still can’t turn away from my favourite leisure sport, cycling. When Allan from Speedmatrix offered us a bike each, it was like icing on the cake.

I think I’m starting to sound like a speed demon ready to unleash on the tracks of the ECPCN right now. I plonked myself on my pristine, spanking white Dahon Curve and…. vroom vroom!!!! It was a whole new experience riding on foldable bike. At the risk of sounding ignorant, I had to consult Joseph at Speedmatrix on how to set up and dismantle my bike. Now, I swear I can fix up AND dismantle within 20 seconds. Yes, try me.

As the sun starts to set on 15th January (Thursday), the four flying cows decided to get our toned butts down to Ice Cream Chefs. This cosy little ice cream cafe is located just off Siglap Road, conveniently right alongside the Siglap Park Connector. I got my Mango Peach Fuzz in a single scoop. I have to say it was good. It wasn’t cloyingly sweet, yet light and healthy.

Yes, I love the ECPCN, I really do, other than the tiny little fact that I don’t actually stay in the East and the last time we cycled through it, i couldn’t walk properly for 2 days.

Nevertheless, for the love of ice cream and to prove to my fellow group members that I am NOT the weakest link, I bravely decided to cycle from Seng Kang to Siglap.

How I wish that the entire park connector network through out SG is up and running. Even though the journey was made considerably safer by cutting through the Serangoon PCN and Siglap PCN, I still have to make my way through the trecherous roads of Ubi. (really like the new pavement near the driving centre though, thanks LTA!)

Other than a near-accident involving an un-strategically placed lamp post, I  did managed to make it to ice-cream chef to enjoy my well-earned Kaya Roti ice cream.

yummy ice cream!!

yummy ice cream!!

The above is just too long. So i will just make mine short and sweet. I CAN’T believe I had never noticed the PCN when its just a stone’s throw away from my place. Its the best development in Singapore as it only takes me 20 mins (thanks to my superb cycling speed) from Bedok to Ice Cream Chefs @ Siglap.

Normally, I would have to get myself cramped on the bus, get to the interchange, transfer to another bus to get there.  The thought of going through so much to get the icecream would kill whatever remaining appetite/craving i have. I was so excited by our brilliant speed (i can’t stress this enough) that my craving for it doubled and i got myself 2 SINGLE scoops ( this is more than a double scoop fyi). All in all, I am glad I stay near a PCN that could get me to all the nice foodie place in the East. I will definitely try more of this soon- with my stylo DAHON bike that is.

But dun you think we should change another park connector for cycling? It seems that the longest park connector is only available at the Eastern side…. 🙂
